Wadiz (CEO Shin Hye-sung, www.wadiz.kr ) announced that goods using brand IP are consistently performing high funding performance. According to Wadiz's internal tally, the cumulative funding of brand and character IP goods over the past two years has reached about 10.7 billion won. Among them, the F&B project, which reinterprets familiar food packages with new products such as tableware and technology, stands out. The cumulative amount of funding for related projects exceeded 3.4 billion won.
Recently, attempts have been made to combine the shape and color of packages familiar to consumers with the functions of new products. IP elements that remind the brand at a glance are being used as starting points for making completely different products such as tableware, auxiliary batteries, and chargers.
Representatively, Ido On-hwa's "5 Banana-flavored Milk Pottery Tableware Set" reinterpreted the symbolic container design of Binggrae Banana-flavored Milk as a ceramic dish. Before the project was released, more than 24,000 notification applications were received, and the amount of funding was 650 million won. Notification applications from overseas users such as the U.S., Japan, and Singapore also continued, confirming global interest.
The combination of F&B brand IP and tech products is also producing results. The project, which implemented Haitai Ice's "Ssangsangba" as an auxiliary battery, recorded 680 million won in the first funding and continued to the second funding. A product that reinterprets Haitai's Butterring with a MagSafe charger also raised 420 million won. Oyes, Chamfish Bread, and Waehaas have also been reborn as tech products, and the Dongwon Tuna Auxiliary Battery has attracted more than 8,500 applicants for notification so far ahead of its release on September 17.
Wadiz believes this trend is an opportunity for brands and makers to expand the commercialization area of existing IP. This is because new uses can be added to familiar brand IPs such as package design and characters to introduce them to the market first, and through the selection of supporters, it can lead to subsequent products or new categories while checking which "IP × product" combinations get a response.
A Wadiz official said, "As familiar brands reappear as unexpected products, supporters feel the joy of discovering and choosing their tastes anew," adding, "For brands and makers, it can be an opportunity to create another product opportunity by expanding the attractiveness of existing IP into a new product line." We hope that these attempts will lead to more diverse brands and makers," he said.
